What is a vehicle wrap?

A vehicle wrap is a thin vinyl film that adheres directly to a vehicle, very much like a sticker. This thin vinyl film conforms to the shape of the vehicle and is usually digitally printed with colorful graphics for advertising. When looked upon from a distance, a neat vehicle wrap gives the appearance of a quality custom paint job. The advantage is that vehicle wraps are a lot less expensive than custom jobs and can be removed very easily without damaging a vehicle surfaces.

Can you see through the windows after the vehicle wrap is applied?

Yes. Perforated vinyl films called window perforations (or "window perf") have little holes in them and allow you to see outside from your car or truck windows. The window perforations can be applied on your back and rear windows on the sides. This also acts like window tint, making it difficult for people to look into your vehicle.

Can the driver side and passenger windows be wrapped?

No. DOT laws do not allow us to wrap these windows.

Do you wrap the roof?

Yes and No. Yes, we can wrap windows on any vehicle. We wrap roofs for most small vehicles where the roof is visible. However, when it comes to wrapping big vehicles (SUVs, trucks, vans, bobtails), most customers decide not to cover the roof because it does not provide much advertising.

Can unpainted vehicle surfaces like plastic parts and fiberglass bumpers be wrapped?

Unpainted vehicle surfaces can be wrapped however it is not recommended. Vinyl adhesives do not stick very well to unpainted surface and so there is always a chance that the wrap will peel off from these areas.

Can you apply vehicle wraps to vehicles besides cars?

Sure! We can wrap box trucks, semi tractor trailers, Hummers, aircrafts, boats and any other imaginable vehicle, storefront, or appliance.

How is a vehicle wrap better than a custom paint job?

A Vehicle Wrap is better than a paint job in many ways. The biggest advantages are cost savings, speed of production, removability, and better book value for your vehicle.
* Vehicle wraps cost a lot less than a custom paint job. Also, it is a lot easier and faster to produce complex designs. A quality wrap can be designed and applied in less than 2 weeks. Sometimes a Vehicle Wrap can be completed in just a couple of days.
* Vehicle Wraps can be removed easily, without damaging the paint beneath it. Compare against the time and cost of removing a custom paint job.
* Lastly, Vehicle Wraps protect the paint from fading. This may result in an increase value for your vehicle when you are ready to sell your car or truck.

Can parts of a vehicle wrap be changed to reflect a new phone number or a new address?

Yes. If you happen to move and need to change your phone number, website address, or any other information on the wrap, a portion of the Vehicle Wrap can be reprinted with the new information and applied to your vehicle.

Do you accept major credit cards?

Yes, we accept all major credit cards and other forms of payment.

Is it possible to sponsor my car, truck, van or bus wrap?

Many corporations will pay for or reimburse you for your vehicle wrap. Businesses today realize the huge saving in mobile advertising through fleet graphics and they are willing to be a sponsor.

How do I get started?

A typical vehicle wrap application involves the following steps;
1. Receive A Quote: We need information about your vehicle and a rough idea of the design you are looking for. To get a quote, please call (610)462-4210 or email stein.smith@billboard-johnnys.com. We try our best to give you a fast reply.
2. Artwork and mockup: Once you accept the quote and a down payment has been received, we create a design for your wrap. If you already have a vehicle wrap design then this step is eliminated.
After the design is created a proof is submitted and upon approval the design is sent for digital printing and laminating.
3. Installation Scheduling: While the wrap is in production, an installation day is scheduled for your vehicle.
4. Installation: Finally, on the day of installation, the vehicle graphics are installed on your vehicle and you are ready to drive your mobile advertisement everywhere you go.

Can I wax my vehicle before applying the graphics?

No. Wax creates adhesion problems and therefore vehicle wraps peel off when applied to waxed vehicles. Wax must be completely removed from a vehicle before installation.

Do vehicle wraps damage paint?

No. Wraps are made by the highest quality manufacturer; 3M. In our experience, wraps are completely harmless to vehicle paint. However, if the paint is not in good condition (if it¹s peeling, cracking, fading, oxidizing, etc. / is poorly applied / is not a quality automotive paint) then the wrap might not stick very well and it will not last for very long. In such cases when the paint is in poor condition, the vinyl peels off, and it peels the paint beneath it.

How long will I be without my vehicle?

Typically, you will drop off the vehicle and it will be done that same day. We can also wrap the vehicle in your own garage or bay.

Can the vehicle wrap be removed later?

Absolutely. The wrap is actually stacked to the vehicle using heat and pressure-sensitive adhesives that can be reactivated by our installers. The removal process is very short.

Can I pressure wash my vehicle after the graphics are installed?

We highly recommend NOT to pressure wash the vehicle after installation of the vinyl. Some pressure washers can potentially lift up the vinyl because of improper use of the water pressure. The wrap is an investment to your marketing and advertising strategy and thus it should be protected.

I live outside of the Lehigh Valley, can I still go with you guys for my wrap?

Yes, we also have a network of certified installers set up across the U.S. and Canada.

I have an RV and a trailer, can you wrap them up or are they too large?

Because of the printing process and technology we use, we have the capability to cover large areas. In the past, we have covered several RVs, buses and trailers.

Why advertise my business with a vehicle wrap?

How is a wrap designed?

Our designers specialize in vehicle wrap design. Final proofs, mockups and explanations are always reviewed prior to sending the job to print.

Can I supply my own artwork?

Yes and No. If you are experienced with graphic design or have your own designer, we can send you specifications to complete the artwork and mockup on your own. We do not reccommend supplying the artwork and files if you are inexperienced with vector based images. (If you just said "What's a vector-based image," then have Billboard Johnnys do the mockup.) Also, with most quotes, we include artwork and mockup in the quote so with most jobs, you are not paying extra for expert designers to do the artwork and mockup.

Can I save money by applying the graphics myself?

No. It is not recommended to do it yourself. Our installers are skilled, certified, and have years of experience. If you do it yourself, you could decrease the life of the graphics on your vehicle or end up doing a sloppy job. Crooked and bubbled up graphics will hurt your image when advertising in your market. It's best to leave it up to the professionals.

Will you pay me to drive my car with someone else¹s advertising?

No. Our company designs, prints and wraps vehicles for businesses looking to advertise on their vehicles. We are not a driver - advertiser broker. Will you wrap or add graphics to a leased vehicle?

Yes. Since a wrap can be removed without damaging a vehicle, there are no restrictions against wrapping a leased vehicle.

Our business doesn't have a fleet. Can you provide a parked billboard?

Yes. We have a fleet of vans that we can park in your own lot or on a high traffic road near your business. How is this different from a fixed billboard? Cost! The difference between your advertising on a van on the side of the road on a flat, boring, fixed billboard is cost. It is going to cost you less per month to advertise on 1 or more "Parked Billboards" than 1 or more fixed billboards. The amount of people seeing your advertising will be the same.

How long will vinyl graphics last on my vehicle?

Our wraps will normally outlast the vehicle. You can expect your wrap to last 5 years or longer, as long as you¹re careful about high pressure washing.

How do I care for my wrap?

It is best to hand wash your wrapped vehicle. In general, avoid power washing and do not use an ice-scraper. Brushing windows and the use of a rear defroster will cause no damage to your window wrap.

What's the difference between a 1/2, 3/4, and full vehicle wrap?

A size of the wrap simply refers to the percentage of the car that is covered by the wrap.

Where is your install location?

Our main offices are located in Historic Emmaus Pennsylvania in the Greater Lehigh Valley. Most of the time, we come to you if you have a garage or bay located at your business. This adds saving to the cost of doing business which we pass on to you. We also have partnered with many businesses across America like auto repair and auto rental businesses. So your vehicle graphics will be installed at your trusted, local repair shop with our certied installer on location.

Do I need to have commercial license plates on the vehicle?

No. You may advertise your own business or someone else's business on any type vehicle.
